Why I Write

So it has been a while since I blogged. It was something I loved doing but I began to feel like I was constricted to a single topic. I never thought I was much of a writer. I really still do not think I am. But what I have come to realize is that I do really enjoy doing it.

The spark that finally lit the fuse was two of my great friends complimented me on a review I left for website I like to do in my free time. It is actually the reason for the above picture. (I do not know the original creator- If anyone does please let me know to credit them) This compliment sparked my brain and as I tried to fall asleep I tossed and turned. Debating to write again, will the people like it I asked myself?

…And then it hit me, I really do not care. Its something I enjoy doing and will continue today. I do not expect to become a great writer, I also do not really care if anyone reads what I write but like Jack Kerouac said regarding becoming a good writer “after all what do I really know about it except you’ve got to stick to it with the energy of a benny addict,”.

After my Dad’s passing I was able to utilize blogging to update people on my well being as well as my thoughts on mental health. It was an awesome creative outlet and allowed me to open up about mental health in a way I never could before. I look forward to continuing to do this but I will also begin to write about other things I am interested and thoughts I have.

By continuing to discuss mental health but opening my blogs to other topics of interest I feel as though I can better track my feelings and interests over time as well as connect with those of similar interests as mine.

I look forward to writing again; meeting people, discussing ideas, and sharing my thoughts but more than anything I just look forward to writing again.

If you decide to come along for the journey I welcome you. Feel free to come aboard and jump ship anytime.
